Herbs for Womb Health
Vervain
Vervain is a well-known plant throughout the world due to its multi-purpose herbal benefits!
Research has shown when used in many different ways to extract its medicinal properties, vervain has been shown to be vital to women's health. In my own Garifuna culture, vervain holds cultural ties as a powerful plant to healing women's wombs.
Either taken as a tea or used in vaginal steaming, vervain is used for treating symptoms of menopause, irregular menstrual cycles, treating yeast infections, increasing milk flow if breast feeding, preventing infections, and more.
Along with other medicinal purposes, vervain is a true miracle herb!
Dandelion Root
One of my most favorite herb is dandelion root!
Among many of its other medicinal purposes, this herb does wonders to support the healthy functioning of the liver and kidney.
The liver makes many of the protein in the blood, balance carbohydrates in the body, and helps to bind and excrete unnecessary substances from the body.
With dandelion acting as a diuretic, wastes are removed quickly from the body. That's why during and after my menstrual cycle, this powerful herb cleanses any build-up for blood that may occur and leaves me feeling good and that much healthier. It's a true herbal remedy!
Raspberry Leaf
Raspberry leaf has a long history of bringing balance to the entire digestive system.
Among its many uses, my favorite use is this plant's amazing ability to strengthen the endocrine system to balance hormones.
The astringent leaves is used to lessen heavy menstrual bleeding, and the alkaloid, fragarine, has womb-strengthening abilities that helps to regulate the menstrual cycle and restore irregularities. Since I started drinking raspberry tea before and during my period, I really did experience a significant change of lesser cramping, shorter bleeding days, and on a more regular cycle that aligns with nature's rhythm.
Taken as a tonic, raspberry leaves can also be used to treat urinary tract infections, incontinence, irritable bladder, and pelvic floor dysfunction.
Full of a high vitamin (C, B, E) and mineral content, raspberry leaf is still heavily used today in some indigenous communities (Cherokee) to promote fertility, stregthen the uterus during pregnancy, helps prevent miscarriage, & prepare the body for labor. Needless to say, this powerful plant has become vital player in the plant world for a healthy pregnancy.
I'm so glad this wholesome herb exists in nature. It's become my go-to herb for women's womb health.
